Percebendo a quantidade de pessoas famintas que pediam comida em seu estabelecimento, os donos de um mercado em Petrolina – Pernambuco, resolveram instalar uma prateleira para depositar alguns produtos destinados à doação. Ali, as pessoas podem retirar qualquer alimento exposto, sem passar pelo constrangimento de pedir. A única exigência – que seja levado apenas o necessário – é cumprida pelos usuários de maneira exemplar. Uma iniciativa simples, que reduz a incidência da fome e ajuda no combate ao desperdício.

Enquanto não chegam ao Brasil leis como a SprecoZero (Desperdício Zero) italiana, que prevê a doação de alimentos que seriam desperdiçados a setores vulneráveis da sociedade, mediante incentivos fiscais; ou a lei francesa, mais rigorosa, que estabelece multas pesadas e até pena de prisão para comerciantes que jogam alimento no lixo, atitudes solidárias e voluntárias como a do casal pernambucano merecem todo o aplauso.
