O exemplo que trazemos vem da pequena Jaboticatubas, situada a cerca de 60 km de Belo Horizonte, em meio às belas trilhas e cachoeiras da Serra do Cipó.

Há quatro anos, agricultores familiares agroecológicos de várias comunidades locais se uniram e criaram a Feira Raízes do Campo, com edições no segundo e quarto sábado do mês, montada na pracinha do centro da cidade. O modelo de empreendimento coletivo adotado permitiu o encurtamento da distância geográfica e relacional entre o produtor e o consumidor com inúmeras vantagens para ambos.

Sabemos que quanto maior a distância, maior o preço e menor a qualidade dos produtos. Na feira, o agricultor comercializa o produto diretamente, o que lhe permite aumentar seu lucro e reduzir o desperdício. Por outro lado, o consumidor adquire alimentos de qualidade, Km zero e sazonais, além de apoiar a agricultura local. Sem falar no enriquecedor dedinho de prosa, momento privilegiado em que sempre acontecem interessantes trocas culturais. O produtor não está preso à especialização do conhecimento. Conviver com eles é ter aulas constantes de como tratar a terra e os que nela habitam.

O sucesso da rede tecida pelos agricultores incentivou-os a alçar voos mais altos. Um grande mutirão de feirantes e voluntários está sendo formado, visando à criação de um espaço fixo para a comercialização dos produtos. Vem aí o Armazém Raízes do Campo, com inauguração prevista para o mês de outubro.

Para além da dinamização da economia, com geração de emprego e renda, iniciativas como esta humanizam a convivência cotidiana e protegem a teia de relações sociais que ainda resistem nos ambientes urbanos.
